The minor in linguistics is designed to provide students in Computer Science, Foreign Languages, Psychology, and other departments with a basic grounding in the scientific study of human language. The minor requires 18 credits, distributed as follows:

A. LING 101    Introduction to Linguistics

B. One of the following:

LING 403     Introduction to Phonology    (prereq: LING101)
LING 404    Structure of Language           (prereq: LING101)
LING 418    Meaning and Language Use    (prereq: LING101)

C. Any four additional LING courses, two of which must be at the 300- level or above.

Substitutions for the above courses may be made with the approval of the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the Department of Linguistics.

A grade of “C” or better is required in all courses.
