Grading

There is no final exam for this course.

Quiz questions include short answer questions, multiple choice questions, and language analysis problems similar to the exercises and to the examples done in class.

Quizzes are non-cumulative.

There are no make-up quizzes.

Do the readings before coming to class.

Exercises are due at the beginning of lecture on the day indicated on the schedule.

Exercises must be handed in on time; late assignments receive an automatic deduction of 50%.

Accommodations for illness/emergencies require a letter from the dean.

Attendance at lectures and discussion sections is mandatory.

Participation grade includes attendance, and participation in group problems during discussion sessions.

Tutoring

The Department of Linguistics has arranged to make FREE tutoring for LING 101 students available at the Academic Enrichment Center (148-150 South College Ave). A graduate student from the Department of Linguistics will be available at the Academic Enrichment Center on most days of the week. They are all knowledgeable about linguistics and will be very glad to help you.
