Teaching

In the Spring Semester of 1997 I taught an Honors course of Linguistics 101 and a graduate syntax course: Syntax II. In the Fall Semester of 1997 I will be teaching three courses:

L101
L101 is a course that introduces some of the main findings of modern linguistics, the scientific study of language, and teaches some of the techniques for analyzing language.
Lectures for this course are on Tuesday and Thursday, 11am - 11.50am, with sections meeting at various times (consult the registration information).
L101 (Honors)
As L101, this is a course introducing some of the findings and techniques of modern linguistics. As an honours course there will be a significant component of class discussion and emphasis on problem-solving.
Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, from 9.30am to 10.45am.
Syntax III
This is a graduate course suitable for anyone who has completed the Syntax I and II sequence. It will be taught primarily as a seminar. The course will focus on the syntax of small clauses and of copular constructions in a variety of languages, and what they can tell us about the syntax/semantics interface. Students will be encouraged to present both papers from the literature and the results of their own work.
The class will meet once a week on Tuesday, from 1pm to 4pm, in Room 202.
