Concentrations

Concentration Requirement

In addition to completing the 26 credit hours of required courses, students must complete a minimum of 18 additional credit hours in a concentrated area of study.  (Some concentrations may exceed 18 hours.)  Below is a list of pre-approved concentrations.  Alternatively, students have the option of developing an individualized concentratin with the aid of their faculty advisory and by approval of the Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Undergraduate Studies Committee.  (Please see below for more information on individualized concentrations.)

Individualized Concentrations

Individualized concentrations must consist of courses drawn from the list of eligible courses approved by the Department of Linguistics & Cognitive Science (see below). Interested students must develop a proposal to be approved by a faculty advisor as well as by the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the department.
