Upcoming lab meetings (tentative):
During the current semester, lab meetings are held on Thursday evenings
from 5:30-7:00ish. We mix presentations of our own work with discussion
of recent articles of interest. All are welcome.
- February 12th: Williams' Syndrome - Andrea Zukowski leads discussion
of a new paper by Harald Clahsen and Mayella Almazan-Hamilton on "Morphology
and Syntax in Williams Syndrome", and presents some ideas arising
from her work with Barbara Landau on spatial cognition and spatial language.
- February 19th: Meesook Kim, on recent progress on her dissertation
project on the acquisition and learnability of locative verbs.
- February 26th: Ted Eastwick leads discussion of papers on experimental
measures of phonological processes.
- March 5th: Tom Pellathy & Colin Phillips, on their work
on MEG and language
- March 12th: Dave Schneider, on the development of his incremental
parsing model, his upcoming presentation on it at the CUNY Sentence Processing
Conference, and plans for experimentally testing aspects of his model
- March 19th: Douglas de Lorenzo (and maybe Ted Eastwick, too)
on their ongoing work with Roberta Golinkoff on syntactic knowledge in
infants.
- March 26th: Ted Eastwick & Colin Phillips on their ongoing
work on sentence processing.
- April 2nd: Andrea Zukowski leads discussion of "The Acquisition
of Grammar" by Michael Maratsos (1988).
- April 30th: Discussion of recent articles on reactivation phenomena
at gap site: Swinney & Love 1996, Bever & Sanz 1997
- May 7th: Norhaida Aman & Gaby Hermon, about their experimental
studies on young Malay-speaking children's knowledge of constraints on
wh-movement.
- May 14th: Discussion of recent articles by Neville & Mills
on ERP studies of language development.
