Participation credit:
We will make assignments of participation credit, worth maximum of 10%, in the next week. Based on the criteria specified in the syllabus, credit will be assigned as follows: default score of 8 for regular attendance and some participation; reduced to 6 or 7 in cases of regular or chronic absence from discussions and late assignments; increased to 9 or 10 for high or exceptional levels of active participation in the course ("active participation" can mean more than just talking a lot!).
