On The Relationships Between Language and Theory of Mind in Autism

Over two decades ago, Baron-Cohen and his colleagues first proposed that autism involves fundamental impairments in acquiring a theory of mind. In this presentation I will present two lines of research exploring theory of mind in children with autism. One set of studies investigates the role of language in the development of theory of mind in children with autism. The second set of studies investigates whether theory of mind deficits are related to core social and communication symptoms in autism.
